A Week of Story-Inspired Learning!

A Week of Story-Inspired Learning!

Last week, as part of our World Book Day celebrations, we've brought books to life across every subject!

In Science, we explored the magic of George’s Marvellous Medicine, experimenting with potion-making! The children designed wanted posters for fairy-tale villains in Digital Learning.  Art & DT lessons transformed the art room into the ‘Inventing Room’, as we created sweet-making machines inspired by classic tales. English lessons took a detective twist, as Years 3, 5, and 6 investigated Snow White in New York, solving crime scenes and crafting creative stories. Year 4 delved into The Jolly Postman, writing letters in character. Even Maths has got a sweet twist! Inspired by How Many Jelly Beans?, pupils estimated, visualised, and explored big numbers, ratios, and fractions—helped by real jelly beans!

In Outdoor Learning and Humanities, we looked at The Last Wolf by Mini Grey, which sparked discussions on biodiversity and the importance of planting trees. Mr Wolf’s Pancakes helped Year 3 in their Life Skills lessons by exploring why reading, writing, and maths are vital life skills.  Our use of stories extended to PSHE, PE, Drama, Music, and French, where books have inspired learning in every corner of our school.

The week showed us how stories connect subjects, spark creativity, and deepen understanding!
